How long can food stay frozen once the freezer stops?
A full freezer you keep closed usually holds safe temperatures for about a day. A half-empty one loses ground faster. Keep the door shut, move what you can into a cooler with ice, and call us so we can get out there.
Is heavy frost buildup normal in Florida?
Some frost is normal here, since humid air rides in every time the door opens. A solid sheet on the back wall or the coils is not normal. That points at the defrost system or a gasket that quit sealing.
Can a garage freezer survive our summers?
Only if it is rated for wide temperature swings. Standard models struggle once the garage climbs past the high nineties, running long cycles that beat on the compressor. We check whether the unit is fighting its location or genuinely failing.
Do you work on chest freezers and standalone uprights?
Yes. Chest freezers, uprights, drawer models, and the freezer side of a refrigerator are all fair game. We are an independent company and service all major brands, and we will tell you straight when a repair no longer makes sense.
Could a lightning storm have damaged it?
That happens a lot around here. A nearby strike or surge can take out the control board, the inverter, or the compressor start components while the light and fan keep working. We test the electronics before we assume the sealed system is gone.
Should I defrost it before you arrive?
Usually no. The frost pattern tells us a lot about which part gave out. If water is running onto the floor, mop that up and leave the rest alone until we take a look.
